Italian for travelers I-II - 2010 Spring-Summer Session

Whether you are planning a trip to Italy for business, pleasure or cultural endeavors, this class will introduce you to the basic vocabulary and grammar used in daily situations. You'll learn vocabulary related to greetings, directions, money, time, food and shopping. Grammar will cover the basic verbs and verb tenses; nouns; adjectives and articles, and sentence formation. You will acquire speaking skills by practicing easy and fun conversations in a relaxed atmosphere and also learn about Italy, its lifestyle and culture.

 

This class takes places every other week on Thursdays, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm starting from Thu. May 6th to Aug. 12 for 8 sessions

Italian Conversation & Grammar: Spring - Summer 2 010 Conversation & Grammar

The Spring-Summer 2010 Conversation & Grammar is a 10 week long Italian grammar and conversation course that will help students acquire more confidence in speaking and listening to Italian, expand their vocabulary, improve their reading and listening comprehension and practice more advanced grammar.
We will utilize a variety of material, including a textbook plus handouts, CDs, videos and online audio/video to emphasize understanding and speaking the language correctly, as well as Italian culture.
Emphasis will be given to the spoken language and to improving verbal communication.
This advanced beginner/intermediate class will allow you to use the Italian language in different contexts and will be structured around specific themes i.e. Italian culture, literature, current events and society.
We will also review and expand some grammar topics, including verbs, compound verb tenses, the main parts of the sentence (prepositions, adverbs, idiomatic expressions). All aspects of the language and culture will be approached through an interactive, fun and participative format.

Foundation Italian I-II:  Beginner Italian I-II: Spring-Summer 2010 

Foundation Italian I-II is a beginner class setting the foundation of the Italian language in easy steps. Students will learn how to express increasingly complex sentences and build vocabulary in a relaxed atmosphere which emphasizes learning in a natural, participatory, stress-free way.

We will study the main structures of a sentence and learn funtamental grammar rules, such as: pronunciation, pronouns, regular and irregular verbs in the present, future and past tenses, simple negations, gender of nouns and adjectives, plural, articles etc. All students will have a chance to practice speaking and creating sentences that will become more complex as they progress in their study.

At the end of this 10 week cycle the students will have learned how to express greetings and introductions, order food, carry out dialogues about travel and every day situatios such as: shopping, asking for directions, etc.

We will also introduce audio material for listening comprehension exercises.

 

10 sessions for a total of 15 hours, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on following Mondays from May 10th to July 26th (No class on Mond. May 31st and July 5th):

Private and small group private language lessons are specially tailored to meet the specific needs of the student and they are flexible in duration and schedule.
Lessons are conducted in St. Louis Park.
